And it’s 1957…. At least that’s what 3000 or so 20-30 somethings seem to think. The Gold Coast is playing host to the annual Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender and they come in their droves, in their pick-ups, in their Cadillacs – hot rods from as far as these modified creations can gallop. There's ample opportunity to parade both vintage car and self all around town and everyone dresses up, especially the girls. The fuller and glossier the lips, the more lacquered the hair, and the more knicker on show - the better. Guys loll against the shiny bonnets of their motors, greased hair and preening, cigarettes dangling from pouting bottom lips, and generally looking as cool as hell.
